DIY Match-boxes

A fun little DIY project to spark up some extra fire in the home. I always have a bunch of matchboxes laying around, because of the amount of candles I have spread all over the house! so why not make your match boxes look cute. They make great gifts as well, I like to give candles as for example "house warming gifts", so add a DIY matchbox to make it more fun and personal!
What you need;
- Matchboxes (any size)
- Scrapbooking paper (or other nice paper)
- Pencil, glue, scissors
- Optional; gemstones or studs or other embellishments
1. Trace the matchbox
2. Cut to size and glue the paper on
3. Embellish if you like...
Et Voila! your own fun DIY Matchboxes!

Earth-tones & Neons

I'm all about the the contra balance of colors, prints or anything really maybe it has to do with the fact that I am a libra or maybe I just like a happy medium.
I love earth-tones like this olive green or go for a rusty color, neutrals like khaki or camel colors. Then make it pop by adding a vibrant or neon color.
PS; When wearing a maxi skirt, make a side knot if you have to hop on your bike (my mode of transport in Amsterdam)

Kitchens on Wheels

Yesterday we went to "Rollende Keukens" which is a food festival with kitchens on wheels. There are different cuisine's, coffee specialists, creperies, tapas bars, a foodies heaven! Also awesome live music and a great atmosphere. It runs till Sunday may 12th, so if you are in Amsterdam it's definitely worth to go there, and remember; Don't eat before you go!

I believe they serve horse burgers here.... which is the new meat just ask UFC fighter Alistair Overeem. The cutest little Italian coffee car-bar on the picture below.

Stripes & Florals

Finally got to wear a pair of shorts this weekend, besides the wind it was a gorgeous day. We spent the day roaming a flea market and having drinks at a place called "Pllek" and "Noorderlicht" These are two cool places on the other side of the water overlooking the city of Amsterdam. If you are in Amsterdam this summer, make sure to take a ay to relax at either one of these places!

Cinco de Mayo!

For those who think Cinco de Mayo is just a holiday or an excuse to sip margaritas or shot tequila, it is actually a day to celebrate the Mexican culture.
It is celebrated in the US but originates from Mexico. It used to be a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy and now it is a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. So here's a toast to the Mexican culture for being so colorful and ardent.
Salud!

Get Crafty This Weekend

After yesterdays post I wanted to share a little of my jewelry making tips. Above you see my latest creations of necklaces and bracelets. below you see how it usually starts off (one big pile of crafties). I like to get all of it out so I can see what I have and see which colors or textures fit nice together and ofcourse I like to clash colors; neons with black and whites, opposites attract instead of keeping it safe in the same color pallet.
The first and third necklace (see pictures above) I braided. The first was braided, including the bolts as you go along.
With the second necklace I wrapped multiple ropes together.
*Tip; Stick your rope down with washi tape
If wrapping other twine or so around the rope, secure it by melting the ends or by superglueing them.
(superglue = my friend)
Last step is to attach a clasp (use your pliers for this)
*Tip; find clasps at a arts & crafts store or reuse one from an old necklace!

Black 'n White Crop Top

I have been collecting ropes, string and other materials that I'm attracted to over the past few months and I have never actually done anything with them until this necklace. Rope items are this springs and summers hottest accessories and it is really cool to be able to say; "I did it myself".
Get inspired this weekend and make your own rope necklace!
