Transition; Summer to Fall

I love color, there is no doubt in that. When the colored pants craze started, I indulged. Now I found my self with a challenge, how to transition the summer colored pants into fall.
Fall is slowly (in Holland actually quite quickly) making it's way over, with new trends and new colors. However I still want to be able to wear my summer pants... so I do.

Try This;
-Rich textures; Such as chunky knits and faux fur.
-Accessorize! Throw in a hat (so fall) or a round scarf or even a fall-ish print (Camouflage!)
- Color; Choose colors that are opposite of your summer pants, go for deeper hues in the same tone or different tones of color.

Above is a color spectrum to help out. Think of the inside as spring and summer and the outer rings as fall and winter hues.
Happy seasons transition!

Home Decor; A look inside Francine's Casita

A dedication to my dear friend Francine who just moved back to our lovely little island, leaving me behind in this city that is starting to turn cold.
I had an awesome time capturing little nooks in her apartment.
Her style is eccentric, colorful and she is inspired by the mexican culture. She has been collecting pineapples for years, before they made a splash this summer.
She sticks to her imported Santo Domingo coffee and sips from gold cups.
Visting her is like a visit to an exotic tropical place, with vivid colored decor and sea inspired trinkets like these coral candle holders
Eating from colorful fish plates with bamboo inspired pieces.
Unfortunately my "Bistro Francine's" is no longer located in Amsterdam, but in warm and sunny Curacao where her interior meets the weather all year round.
Francine you are a great inspiration to me and I cannot wait to see what you will make your new home look like! I miss you already my friend!

Orange & Navy

I have been quite busy the last few weeks and so I try to multi task as much as I can. As goes for the outfits, this outfit went and had brunch with a friend and after, attended a meeting. Peplums in general are super versatile, easy to dress up or down and a guaranteed feminine look.

Outfit Post; Palazzo Pants

In the hopes to be able to enjoy that last of what we in Holland call summer (the bi-polar effects of the weather; sunshine, rain, sunshine, rain), at least I got to wear some summer clothes in Curaçao.
Including my palazzo pants (don't you just think they scream summer?! I LOVE)

Outfit Post; Candy Stripes

One of the things I love most about Curaçao is the colorful houses. Since Curaçao used to be a Dutch colony, the architecture is quite European, but then very colorful! lots of houses have front like the typical houses in Amsterdam for instance. The windows look romantic with the white wooden shutters. The houses were built like that so they could lock the windows at night, but keep the shutters open for the breeze. I love Curaçao and it's architecture!

Funfetti Nails

Unfortunately for work I cannot wear any nail polish, fortunately I'm on vacation and have the freedom of painting my nails however you like! My visit to Curaçao this time includes many birthday celebrations to my loved ones :)
Perfect festive nail-do, I think.

Neon Bracelets

Have I told you yet that my latest obsession is neon jewelry? It might be one way to incorporate wishful warm weather fashion into this freezing cold Holland has had lately. I've kept myself busy staying in and crafting neon bracelets. The one day I left the house (besides to and from work) I went to the Sunday Market  and discovered Fauv and she had the perfect addition to my latest self-made neon bracelets. (Almost) Freezing my feet off last Sunday was well worth meeting the girl behind Fauv.nl.
  Left to Right; Yellow-DIY, Green-Fauv, Orange & Pink-DIY, Yellow & Blue-Forever21
Fauv.nl came to exist because of the passion for jewelry of a fashionable girl. Last year owner and collector Roxanne de Boom started her own web-shop, where she sells her own creations (see my bracelet above) and vintage jewelry thrifted from various trips to fashion cities. She has an eye for detail and adds the finishing touch to your outfit. Go ahead and visit her site.

Home Decorating; Incorporating color

Ok, so I'm guessing it might be clear that I love a lot of color. Actually our bedroom is all white, with accent colors. I recently hung this picture of my boyfriend and I at Santa Monica Pier on our LA trip. I enhanced the colors and it just "pops" (it was a accidental spontaneous picture that actually came out great). The perfect addition to our blank walls. Downstairs in the living room I hung lights (I call them picnic light), they create a wonderful atmosphere. I also got 2 little cacti with pink and orange tops! I love them :) and they fit nice with my serape, my souvenir from LA, Olvera Street. What do you think??
