All around Gingham

 It has been a few weeks since I made an appearance on the blog. Seasons are changing, but Curaçao remains the same. I have been finding myself with a struggle to follow seasonal trends on island weather, however it is possible. A print that you will see a lot this fall and even next spring, is Gingham. Also Mod/60's style is coming this fall. When buying a piece in the seasons transitions, make sure you can get optimal use out of it. An A-line dress is simple yet versatile. It has a mod vibe going on and it is super simple to layer, wear a shirt underneath, pair it with a cropped blazer and maybe some wooly tights. Wear them with superga sneakers, Chelsea boots or clog style heels that you may wear with wooly socks when it gets colder. One dress, so many options! If only the weather allowed me to layer, wool and boots.

Candy Pink Pantalones

Even though it's still freezing from time to time, and mid-winter, my minds already thinking warmer thoughts and bright colors. I could not help myself with these candy pink pants, I just had to have them!

Thank goodness for sales! and before we know it there will be swimwear in stores... for now we are left with layering our favorite shirts....

Happy Weekend - Vintage Check Printed, Ruffles!

 Happy Weekend! As I mentioned earlier, I'm loving Ruffles right now! and I scored this check printed, ruffled sleeve blouse at the Monday, Noorder Market in Amsterdam (for only 5euro's!) definitely worth the time to dig through piles of vintage. Sometimes you might just find something that is totally in fashion upcoming season!

Autumn Denim Shorts

I rediscovered my (summer) denim cut offs for fall. Simply layer a shirt (peek-a-booh collar) with a chunky knit. Et Voila, outfit!

Purple on Purple

Like I mentioned in my "Transition; Summer to Fall" post  last week, I'm finding ways to make my pastel purple pants work. I borrowed the long-sleeve, a deeper shade of purple from my boyfriend. Paired with my DIY faux fur vest (last years) and new round sunnies, to fall-atise it.

Transition; Summer to Fall

I love color, there is no doubt in that. When the colored pants craze started, I indulged. Now I found my self with a challenge, how to transition the summer colored pants into fall. 

Fall is slowly (in Holland actually quite quickly) making it's way over, with new trends and new colors. However I still want to be able to wear my summer pants... so I do.

Try This;

-Rich textures; Such as chunky knits and faux fur.

-Accessorize! Throw in a hat (so fall) or a round scarf or even a fall-ish print (Camouflage!)

- Color; Choose colors that are opposite of your summer pants, go for deeper hues in the same tone or different tones of color.

Above is a color spectrum to help out. Think of the inside as spring and summer and the outer rings as fall and winter hues.

Lavender, Navy and Burgundy

I started the fall/winter DIYing again. Made this faux fur burgundy vest last week and it's been keeping me warm already. Lots of rain and wind, typical fall weather and a hat is perfect for this time of year (just make sure it doesn't blow off your head:)

I'm loving my rusty/brick colored pants (last years, but totally rediscovered!). 

My summer obsession with black and white stripes secretly continues into fall... (honestly, I loved black and white stripes all my life and always dreamed of a black & white striped wall...maybe one day...).

Outfit Post; Colors of fall...

The leather sleeves on the shirt, I did myself using "this method" which I had posted before. Also the clutch, I made myself (these things I can do in my sleep by now). 

I love the cobalt blue color, I love the burgundy and I love the olive green...

2-ways to up-do a white shirt

I love, love, love "the button down" it is such a versatile piece and everybody should have one. May it be any color or just plain white. Check your boyfriend, dad or brothers closet and you must find one... if not get a great sheer button-down (Zara and Mango have great ones this season).

What I did to simply style it up is;

1. Get 1 meter of (velvet) ribbon or lace (at any fabric or craft store)

2. Simply tie it either in a bow (shirt buttoned all the way up)

3. Or go for a more laid back vibe with one button undone and a simple "tie" style.
