DIY; Update the Kitchen Towels

 An easy DIY up-do for the kitchen. I found these cutie iron-on patches at the Monday market (fabric market). It has anything and everything for sewing and crafting, you can imagine I go a little crazy there.
The patches are user friendly, simply iron on! I thought the fruit/veggie theme would look cute on tea towels and so I updated some I already had!

DIY Xmas Gifts; Chai Tea Mix

One thing I usually crave when it's cold or rainy outside is Chai latte!
My friend and I where all about the chai lattes last summer. I tried different brands and different chai lattes (I have discovered my fav now), but why not make your own mix?!
The awesome thing about making it yourself is that you can make it as peppery or as cinnamony as you like! (I prefer more star anise and cinnamon then pepper and ginger)
What you need;
-Cinnamon sticks
-Star anise
-Cloves
-Cardamom
Optional;
-Dried ginger
-Peppercorn
1. Crush the cardamom, star anise and cloves
2. With a meat hammer, smash the cinna-sticks
Note; Do not over crush, it's nice to see the shape of the spices
3. Mix it all together in a mason jar
When gifting, give paper tea bags (find them at a special tea store or a bamboo basket, find this in china town or asian store)
Et Voila! Your DIY Chai mix!
Serve with with boiling water or cook a spoon full of spices with milk for a Chai Latte!

DIY Xmas Gift; Chocolate Covered Spoons

I have seen these types of spoons before, a chunk of chocolate to stir in hot milk to create hot cocoa. Now I wanted to make them myself, in a smaller fancier version that makes your tastebuds tingle.
The one on the left is Dark Chili and the one on the left is White Vanilla-bean.
What you need;
-Plain blocks of chocolate (dark & white)
-Wooden Spoons
-Chili (from a grinder)
-Fresh vanilla bean
1. Break both chocolates and put in two bowls, add bit of chili flakes into one and the scraped vanilla bean into the other.
2. Bring a pot of water to boil and place the bowl in the pot*, stir occasionally till the chocolate is melted evenly.
*(this method is called "au bain-marie")
3. Scoop the spoons in the chocolate and place on a lined baking sheet
leave them to cool down and refrigerate for a bit till chocolate is completely hard.
4. Package them in a plastic baggie and label them with custom-made labels.
