Home made Spreads, yumm

Hi lovely readers, for the girls night I hosted a few weeks ago I made some spreads from scratch to snack on while crafting. I made 3 different spreads, a fig spread, oven-dried tomato topping and a walnut and roasted pepper spread. It is quite easy to make and it looks a lot fancier then just a cheese platter.
The fig spread
Ingredients;
+/- 6 figs (cut in parts)
2 tablespoons red wine
2 table spoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 fresh lemon peels

Put everything to simmer on a medium-low heat, stir a bit till thickened. Let it cool (you could cut figs even smaller)
The tomato topping
-Tomatoes
-Fresh thyme
-Yummie olive oil

Cut the tomatoes in parts, lay on a oven sheet, crush salt over them and let it sit for 15 mins. pop them in the oven (180*C) till dried but yet juicy. It differs with different kinds of tomatoes so just keep an eye on it ;) Put them in a bowl when done, drizzle some good olive oil over it and chopped fresh thyme.
The walnut and roasted pepper spread
Toasted walnuts
Lemon juice
Walnut oil
Olive oil
Roasted red bell pepper
Fresh chopped parsley

Unfortunately I winged this one, so I can't give exact measures. Put all of the above, minus the parsley in the food processor. Move into bowl and spoon through the chopped parsley.
Fresh parsley from my herb garden
Et voila! They are nice to eat on crostini's with charcuterie and cheeses like prosciutto and soft goat cheese. Enjoy! XO

Outfit Post; LWD - Little White Dress

Hi lovely readers, I feel like I have been absent for forever! Summer vacation is always so busy. I have been visiting family, learned some great new recipes I can't wait to make. Visited Brussels twice in the last 2 weeks. It was my boyfriends birthday, so I had to organize and bake. These pictures were taken quickly before running some errands. Hopefully from now on my summer will be a little less hectic :) Thanks for reading! XO

DIY; Body Scrubs

A few weeks ago I wanted to make my own scrub, then I thought why not share it with my girlfriends. Once in a while I organize crafty girls nights (like this one). This time it was "make your own scrub" party!  It's so easy and fun...
Necessities;
-Your grain; We went with either Salt, white sugar or coffee, but you can also go with brown sugar or oats
-Oils; We went with Walnut, Almond and another fresh massage oil
-Essential oils; These are meant for the scent, a few drops is enough
-Extra's; Dried flowers or herbs; Lavender, Rose, Chamomile etc.
-Fresh grated ginger or orange for extra zesty freshness

When making a salt scrub, it's best to mash it up a bit since it can be pretty rough

Maybe you'll give it a try? happy scrubbing!!

DIY: Lace Trim summer essentials

Hi lovely readers, I've been seeing the "lace shorts" and "lace trim shorts" and I've been liking it a lot. Now of course you can buy a pair, but wouldn't it be more fun to DIY? If you have an old pair of shorts all you need is some lace trimming, as easy as that. Besides the shorts, I altered a shirt and I am so excited about these items! What do you think? will you give it a shot as well? XO
The plain basics
Some lace...
Of course it's easiest if you have a machine, but you could do it by hand as well... I don't have the patience though :)
Et voila! cute new and one of a kind items for this summer!!

Outfit Inspiration; Lace Shorts

I love "The Lace Short" and It's actually very versatile. You don't need to stick to the "sweet innocent doll look". I created some different looks, in hopes to inspire :)
Which is your favorite? XO

Look 1. Hippy Chic
Pair the sweet lace shorts with a wide tank top in a neutral color, or even one with a funky image on it. With a leather, bead detailed small cross body and lace up leather sandals. accessorize with feather jewelry.

Look 2. Fashion Forward
Taking the color blocking and colored stripe trends into consideration. Pair the shorts with a color striped t-shirt. Take one of the colors from the t-shirt and use them as neutrals. The Wedge-heels give the outfit a playful, yet sophisticated feel and the clutch dresses it up. To top it off a chunky yet low key neckless.
Top; Topshop 66$, Heels; Steve Madden 129$ Clutch; Topshop $20 Neckless; Topshop 28$

Look 3. Weekend Casual
I think this look is easy to throw on, but yet so chic. If you have to run errands in the weekend and not knowing how your afternoon will end, this outfit will work. Throw on a knit sweater. Pair it with little lace-up wedge booties, and a long neckless with a nice pendant. The metallic carry all is perfect for the weekend and this outfit.

Outfit Post; Cobalt and Caramel

My outfit last Sunday, when we went to the vintage market. Of course it was a little chillier then I thought, but thankful for the sun.

I got this top at H&M, it's perfect for the summer. The top is wide and racerback, so there is a little peek-a-boo for the bra, I also got little bandeau bra tops in tribal/animal print to wear underneath.
Neckless is a souvenir from Cape Town, S.A.
