Up-done Lemon Cake

By now you might know that I love baking, but always choose the easy way out.
This recipe is easy peasy and looks fancy pansy!
What I did is prep a regular packaged cake mix (which required egg, butter and milk)
and then added some triple sec soaked fruit and almond slivers to up the ante.
Perfect recipe for the weekend ;)
1. Soak the sliced pear and raspberries in triple sec (or other fruity liquor)
2. While mixing the cake mix, add some lemon zest and a squeeze of the juice in the batter
3. in regular cake form, add half of the batter, then the fruit (don't add the access liquid that they soaked in, but keep it to brush over the baked cake) sprinkle some almond slivers and pour over the remaining cake batter
Dust with some confectioners sugar before serving... Et Voila!

Denim, Leopard and Leather

Pairing some of my favorites and I guess these materials are historic classics to begin with.

Starting with Denim which was first sold in 18oo's to the working class people. Now every designer in history must have used denim at one point in their collection and I can't think  of a world without denim.
Leopard (animal print) was trending in the 1950's, mostly worn by musicians, models and movie stars. It was a rebellious thing to wear and worn around the bohemian movement.
and finally leather, which played a big role in the development of civilization, using it for basic needs up to 1300 BC. which might be one of the oldest materials that made it through out the years into fashion.

Now how's that for you Monday morning education in fashion?

Blond Be-Gone

New Season, New hair....
I wanted to go for a bit darker again after being (semi) blond all this time.
With the help from my friend, I went for it. We had a fun day playing beauty salon, coloring hair and giving each other at-home-mani's. Try it one time with some girlfriends.
Happy Saturday!

I like experimenting with textures, prints and above all, colors. It's the perfect season for experimenting (with all the above) because it's layer season!

Transition; Summer to Fall

I love color, there is no doubt in that. When the colored pants craze started, I indulged. Now I found my self with a challenge, how to transition the summer colored pants into fall.
Fall is slowly (in Holland actually quite quickly) making it's way over, with new trends and new colors. However I still want to be able to wear my summer pants... so I do.

Try This;
-Rich textures; Such as chunky knits and faux fur.
-Accessorize! Throw in a hat (so fall) or a round scarf or even a fall-ish print (Camouflage!)
- Color; Choose colors that are opposite of your summer pants, go for deeper hues in the same tone or different tones of color.

Above is a color spectrum to help out. Think of the inside as spring and summer and the outer rings as fall and winter hues.
Happy seasons transition!

Yellow, Burgundy and Camouflage

I rediscovered last year's (see worn "here") patterned knit.
Simply by layering it with a button down underneath and have the collar peek out.
Have a good weekend!

Fall's loafers and Flats

Fall is perfect for wearing loafers and flats, even though it can be rainy and quite cold... I try to hold off wearing boots as long as possible. My favorites at the moment are; My newest editions to my loafer collection, Gap's half haired, camouflage print loafers. I have been wanting something camo print, but since it seems like everybody is rocking the camp jacket I went for these to rock my feet.
Besides the Camo print, I love Glitters(!) and Gold(!) right now.
They can make any outfit preppy chic.
What's your favorite fall footwear?
Top; Glitter flats; Nine West (old)
Bottom; Gold mary janes; Zara for girls (the kids sized go up to size 38!)

Easy Caesar Salad + Home-made Dressing

Last Saturday I went to the Farmer's market (one of my favorite pass times). I decided to make a fresh caesar salad for dinner. I made the dressing from scratch, the rest is pretty clear, romain lettuce, boiled egg, and grilled chicken (optional), of course I used ficken (fake chicken aka soy patties).
Nothing is tastier then your own home-made caesar salad!
What you need;
- 1 table spoon mayonaise
- 1teaspoon dijon mustard
- 1 large garlic clove (minced)
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Pinch of salt, pepper
- 3/4 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
o.k. It really is easy as 1,2,3 (I love these easy recipes!)
toss everything in a food processor, pulse until smooth and creamy,
et voila!
