DIY; Bamboo Sunburst Mirror

Happy Saturday! I have a great DIY for you this weekend! I have been wanting a sunburst mirror since the beginning of time and had decided to make one myself, however I never got around to it and not knowing exactly what materials to use for my burst I just kept postponing this DIY. Then I got this inspiration from Anthropologies new collection "here" and it was natural that my Sunburst mirror had to be one of my favorite materials; bamboo!
What you need;
- Small round mirror
- Decorative bamboo sticks (find them in a home and garden store)
- Hot glue gun
- Measuring tape
- Gardening scissors
Measure out the length of your bamboo sticks and cut them using your gardening scissors (I cut them 30cm).
Then glue them in a cross and around.
You can cut a circle out of cardboard then stick it to the back, hot glueing a rope or ribbon to hang the mirror.
Et Voila! Your DIY Bamboo Sunburst Mirror ready to hang!

Cacti & Succulents; 2 Ways

Last weekend I flipped my house, with that comes new DIY home projects and new plants! I love these little guys and I share 2 fun ways to display them while re-using tin cans.
Make a little succulent garden by displaying them in a type of small green-house or square vase. (see images above and below).
Second project are hanging succulents...

What you will need;
- Cans
- Nail + Hammer
- Paint + paint brush
- Tape
- Rope
1. Hammer in holes on each side, for the cans to be able to hang.
2. Tape them where you would like to paint them.
 3. Pull through a rope, string or like I used raffia.
Et Voila! your succulents are ready to hang!

DIY/How to; Re-use Glass

I must confess, I tend to collect my empty glass jars and bottles. Sometimes I end up bringing a huge bag filled with glass to the recycle container and other times I find a way to reuse my empty glass jars and bottles. Below is the how to on this DIY above...
What you need;
- Empty and cleaned glass jars
- Plastic animals of choice
- Crazy glue
- Spray paint color of choice
1. Stick animals to lids and leave to dry
2. Spray paint lids with animals and leave to dry
3. store your favorite candid nut or other trinkets in your awesome new jars!
 Re-use glass jars for your morning latte or as a vase for your fresh cut seasonal flowers
 Use an empty wine bottle for your dish-wash-soap buy sticking in an olive oil pourer.
Or as a candle holder for some awesome colored candle sticks.

Home Decor; A look inside Francine's Casita

A dedication to my dear friend Francine who just moved back to our lovely little island, leaving me behind in this city that is starting to turn cold.
I had an awesome time capturing little nooks in her apartment.
Her style is eccentric, colorful and she is inspired by the mexican culture. She has been collecting pineapples for years, before they made a splash this summer.
 She sticks to her imported Santo Domingo coffee and sips from gold cups.
Visting her is like a visit to an exotic tropical place, with vivid colored decor and sea inspired trinkets like these coral candle holders
Eating from colorful fish plates with bamboo inspired pieces.
Unfortunately my "Bistro Francine's" is no longer located in Amsterdam, but in warm and sunny Curacao where her interior meets the weather all year round.
Francine you are a great inspiration to me and I cannot wait to see what you will make your new home look like! I miss you already my friend!

Trend Alert; A Bugs Life

I've been obsessing over bugs for a few weeks now and then I started seeing them every where! I love, love, love Alicia's necklace (below) and I saw that Zara also incorporated bugs into their new collection. I started planting them around in my house (see kitchen towel and pillow case). A little while ago I went to the Tropen Museum where I learned that about 90% of all animals in the Amazon are insects, very fascinating some more insect facts;
  • Whereas all of Europe has some 321 butterfly species, the Manu National Park in Peru (4000 hectare-survey) has 1300 species, while Tambopata National Park (5500 hectare-survey) has at least 1231 species
  • Around 25% of the world's 2 million described animals species are beetles (Coleoptera).
  • The Longhorn Beetle (Titanus giganteus) can have a body length (not including antennae) of over 6.5 inches (16 cm),
  • A single square mile of rainforest often houses more than 50,000 insect species
  • Some scientists estimate that 30% of the animal biomass of the Amazon Basin is made up of ants

Home Decorating; Incorporating color

Ok, so I'm guessing it might be clear that I love a lot of color. Actually our bedroom is all white, with accent colors. I recently hung this picture of my boyfriend and I at Santa Monica Pier on our LA trip. I enhanced the colors and it just "pops" (it was a accidental spontaneous picture that actually came out great). The perfect addition to our blank walls. Downstairs in the living room I hung lights (I call them picnic light), they create a wonderful atmosphere. I also got 2 little cacti with pink and orange tops! I love them :) and they fit nice with my serape, my souvenir from LA, Olvera Street. What do you think??

Mini bar

Mini bars are making a come back. It's not that we are all boozers, but it's easy entertaining. Now that the holidays are approaching, you might have people coming over etc. It's easy and it looks nice to have a well stocked mini bar. These images are all well presented and amazing I find, oh and I popped my own in there as well. So what do you think, Shaken or stirred?? XO
