Cacti

I can't get over my Cacti print shirt! It's my new favorite thing! I had been searching for a black and white polka dot shirt, instead I found this cactus dotted shirt, it sort of had the polka dot feel but then even quirkier!
I have also been obsessing over this neon pink lipstick (I'll share my secret soon;)

Spring's Beauty Forecast; Side Swept Hair

A Spring/Summer trend that has been all over the runways, is side swept hair. For an extra bit of spring romance, wear a silk scarf. My scarf is vintage, thrifted at I Love Vintage, Amsterdam.

Spring Trend; Seeing Floral

Even though it's cold out here in Amsterdam once again, I'm dreaming about the warmer days that hopefully are ahead. Last week we got a little glimpse of spring weather, where the air is warm when you breath it in and the sun is hot on your skin when not standing in the shade. For this I give you a glimpse of springs fashion I'm looking forward to...
Floral seems to come back spring after spring, update your look with a same print on print look. Or opt for colorful jewel pieces with pops of neon.

The New Classics

Sometimes, especially in the weekends, It's nice to just throw on a pair of good jeans and a simple white button down. A new take on a white button-down is my peplum version (however, a boyfriends, brothers or dads shirt works just as good). Wear it the button-down all buttoned up, with a print cover-up like a leopard coat and your ready to go.
Happy Sunday...

Breakfast at Fayme's in the Kitchen; Blondies

We all know how we LOVE brownies, it's a fact! But what about the blondes? I have been making blondies the past few weeks and loving them! They are versatile too! You can add dried cranberries for a little zing or pistachios and white chocolate chips...yum! However I made mine with espresso salt and pecans.
So let's put this never ending discussions to an end, try these blondes and give an opinion; Brownies or Blondies??
What you need (for +/- 12)
-3/4c all purpose flower
-1/4tsp baking powder
-1/4tsp salt (I used 1/2tsp espresso salt)
-3/4c packed brown sugar
-1/4c melted butter
-1 egg
-1/2tsp vanilla extract
-Nuts, dries cranberries or chocolate chips (optional)

1. In a medium bowl mix first (all dry) 3 ingredients
2. In bigger bowl mix butter, sugar, egg and vanilla extract.
3. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, when mixed well add nuts/cranberries/choco chips
4. Pop in the oven 180*C/350*F for 15-20 mins
Et Voila! Your Blondies are done!

Black and White

I'm obsessing over the over-the-knee pencil skirt trend! Wear it more grungy with a boxy cropped knit top and ankle length boots. Since my booties are cut-out boots I paired them with a little black and white graphic print sock with a pop of yellow.

Charm is the new Stud

1. Phillip Lim, 2&3. Pixie Market ("here" and "here")
We have seen studs, studs and more studs over the past year and I'm sure we are not done with them yet, but there is a new hot stuff on the racks and it is charms. Beware or the embellished, bejeweled and charming garments this season. Even more fun is to DIY a piece, below you see how to...

Layering Jackets

I have been into layering my jackets. The top, wool-like oversized blazer is not warm at all (it does not have lining), but paired with a little leather jacket, it keep warm just fine. I like to peek out the sleeves and the collar of the leather jacker, it's allowed to show your layers.

All Them Diamonds Aren't Gold

This tee is one of my souvenirs from London. I got it at Sunday-up Market , it is a stone wash, designed by locals and printed locally in London. They had many cool shirts and it was hard to choose, however I went with the diamond. Those are supposedly a girls best friend anyway right?

Breakfast at Fayme's in the Kitchen; Croque Mademoiselle

Great recipe if your fresh bread has gone stale. What's for lunch? Croque Mademoiselle with a twist.
What is the difference between a croque mademoiselle and a monsieur? A monsieur often has ham as well and topped off with a sunny-side-up egg. You could always add this to your mademoiselle, however I topped mine with spiced grilled tomatoes.
P.S. I got inspired by a Dutch cookbook called; Weekendlunch by Janneke Philippi
 What do you need?
-Good cheese like swiss, emmental or aged gouda (which I used)
-1 egg
-Vegetable stock
-Kitchen string

1. Slice the cheese onto your bread
2. Wrap your bread like a little present
3.  Soak your wrapped sandwich in the egg&vegetable stock mixture
4. Grill your halved tomatoes in some olive oil and herbs
5. Afterward grill your soaked sandwich in the same pan
Et Voila! Bon Appétit mademoiselles et monsieurs!

Mixing patterns & Pastels

When I travel I usually end up taking too little clothes, but it makes it more fun and creative. When packing just make sure everything sort of fits together (same tone of color, and a little variety with textures).
That is how this outfit came to exist in London.
Me; "Day 3. hmmm what have I not worn yet....*rumble, rumble in the suitcase* Tada! Outfit"
And there is no doubt that I absolutely love clashing prints.

Travel Journal; London

A week has come and gone, just like last weekends trip to London. A few snapshots to give a taste of what London has to offer. First day taking the touristy stroll past the Jubilee Gardens, The London Eye and the famous Big Ben. Day 2 was spent roaming vintage shops and markets like Brick Lane Market and Sunday Up Market. Scoring some good thrifts, some awesome locally designed and made products and some delicious international dishes.
Day 3. Walking around Kensington area and a visit to the V&A Museum. One of the many wonderful things of London is that most museums are free of charge, which I think is amazing. The price of learning about different cultures, history and many other interesting exhibitions that museums offer, should be priceless I find.
Below; Taking a coffee break at the inside garden of the V&A museum.
Day 4. Taking in all the awesome and crazy fashion statements at Summer Set Housewhere London Fashion Week is hosted.
Below; Spotted by The Huffinton Post's My Daily Blog together with my friend Andrea
